On the search for a staple food to cheaply feed the slaves that fueled their empire, England sent an expedition to Tahiti to transplant breadfruit trees to the Caribbean. But after spending five months in an idyllic, tropical paradise with a native population whose attitudes towards sex and life were more free, some sailors were not to keen on going back. A mutiny sent them looking for a new home to lay low from the authorities with their Tahitian wives, and paradise quickly turned into a Lord of the Flies style horror show. While the story has its main characters, we focus on Ned Young, a man on the periphery who managed to sleep through most of the carnage.
